Polar Express 5K

First and foremost, THANK YOU for participating in the 2017 Polar Express 5K! We’re looking forward to having a fun and festive run through Satterwhite Point! We wanted to give you some final race instructions prior to the morning to help make the race experience as incredible one.

Registration/Packet Pick-Up

We have three registration times at two locations to make packet pick-up easy and convenient for our participants!

The first packet pick-up will be at the Henderson Family YMCA on Friday, December 8 from 12-1:30 pm & 4-6 pm. Coaches and 5K participants may come to the Big Gymnasium to pick up their race packets during either of those times. On Saturday, December 9, race packets can be picked up from 9-10 am at Satterwhite Point in the community building ‘Glass House’.

Pre-race day registrations will close promptly at 9PM on Friday, and there will be registration at Satterwhite Point from 9-10 am prior to the race (An additional $10 fee will apply for Race-Day registrants).

If you are a GOTR or STRIDE program participant do not go to the regular registration area. COACHES will pick-up team race packets (which includes race bibs) to distribute to GOTR & STRIDE program participants. Please see your coach for team-specific instructions.

Parking

All 5K runners and spectators may enter the park at no charge. If you are coming to drop someone off and/or pick up, please be advised that access to portions of the park will be limited once the race begins for the safety of the runners. If you do not plan to stay for the entire event, you will need to park in the gravel lot across from the campgrounds. Please plan to arrive early! The Park Entrance will be closed between 9:50-11am.

The Course

The race will start and finish in the last parking lot on Satterwhite Point, down from the community building ‘Glass House’. There will be many volunteers throughout the course helping with directions, and the course will be clearly marked.

Running Buddies need to stay with the participant they registered to run with throughout the 5K and should not cross the finish line without them!

We welcome and encourage family and friends to join us at the event to cheer on the girls along the path and at the finish!

Timing

This is a friendly, non-competitive fun run event for GOTR. If you are interested in your time, you would need to wear a watch that has timing or some other device.

Awards & Team Recognition

Coaches will hand out medals to each participant as they cross the finish line. A brief awards ceremony will begin immediately following the end of the race. We will recognize each team that participated in this season of GOTR and STRIDE. Then we will present the Girls on the Run Spirit Award & the STRIDE All-Star Award (awarded to the GOTR team and STRIDE team with the most school representation participating in the 5K).
